Value Added Audit Techniques and Tools

Banking

Description

Introduction

The standards of the IIA (Institute of Internal Auditors - in Luxembourg) and the objectives of internal controls highlight the importance for auditors to add value to the organization by having a methodical and structured approach. The evolution to the digitalisation requires banks to prepare their business processes to these radical changes. The goal is to move from the current process to a process that will prepare more automation. Therefore the objective of internal control, which requires auditors to give an assurance on the efficient use of resources and the accomplishment of the bank’s strategy and objectives, is becoming critical for auditors also to respond to the need of the Board and Audit Committee members. Data structure is also strategic and an in-depth analysis of the processes and data quality is an imperative to align with the new business models and the new 3 Lines of Defense model developed in 2019 by the IIA. The importance of operational risk measurement and collection of data errors requires new techniques for auditors.
